How brave a soul must be to leave a love as He,
To flourish and to grow, sharing all they come to know.
He prays when we are homesick, when our hearts are blue.
He whispers, “Take my hand, for I will see you through.” See yourself as God does when life becomes too hard,
Respected and admired, held in high regard.
How brave a soul must be, to leave a love as He,
To study and to learn, sharing all on their return.
He prays when we are homesick, when our hearts are blue.
He whispers, “I am here and I will see you through.”
See yourself as God does when saddened and depressed,
One of just a chosen few, fortunate and blessed. How brave a soul must be to leave a love as He,
To persevere and live sharing all that they can give.
He prays when we are homesick, when our hearts are blue.
He whispers, “It’s okay, for I will see you through.”
See yourself as God does when hope is hard to find,
A teacher and a hero to those who stayed behind.
