Sometimes when I’m feeling low, the words “I want to go home” pop out of my mouth. I literally feel homesick for God and my ‘family’ on the other side. I miss the unconditional love and light that I come from. Of course, as soon as the words come out of my mouth or into my thoughts, I quickly look up and say, “I’m sorry God. Thank you so much for the gift of life and You know I don’t really mean it. I want to stay and finish whatever I’m supposed to accomplish and learn whatever I’m supposed to learn. Please forgive me.” It’s okay to feel homesick sometimes. I think God understands.
In her book, “Embraced by the Light”, Betty Eadie talks about her near-death experience. The thing I remember most about the book was her description of the love and light on the other side and how wonderful and beautiful it was. She did not want to come back to her physical body, but the light told her she wasn’t finished and she still had much to accomplish. She agreed that she would go back, but only on one condition. That condition was that the minute she was finished with her mission that the light would immediately bring her home.
In her book, “Backwards”, Nanci Danison writes about her near-death experience and shares what she learned on the other side. Nanci talks about what high regard the souls are held in who come to Earth to experience life. She talks about how we share our lives when we go home. Some can watch from the sidelines like they’re watching a movie and some can step into our sphere and experience our lives in various degrees like they are living our lives as their own. She explains how the others value every experience we’ve ever had no matter how difficult. All of life is valued because there is much to learn and experience in every bit of it. This has been a running theme in some of the other books I have read and it has a familiar ring of truth to me. Life takes on a whole new perspective if you believe you are living it not only for yourself but for all the others that are part of the whole. It’s like I’ve got a responsibility to God and the others. My life isn’t just for me.
