We tell Him what we want. We ignorantly plead.
God shakes His head and smiles, then gives us what we need.
God’s gifts aren’t wrapped in glitter that fool or blind the eyes,
At times painful to open and hard to recognize.
God’s gifts are lessons wrapped in love that help our spirits grow.
Closer to His light and grace, no less would He bestow.
We tell Him what we want. We ignorantly plead.
God shakes His head and smiles, then gives us what we need.
God’s gifts aren’t wrapped in glitter that may trick you or deceive.
They’re often wrapped in hurt and painful to receive.
God’s gifts are lessons wrapped in love that help our spirits grow.
Closer to His light and grace, no less would He bestow.
